Windows Annoyances

Windows 98 Annoyances

What an awesome page. This site provides help for all the stupid little things that Microsoft has done to screw with your computer. If you need help with the some of the "features" that come with windows95 or windows98, this site is a definite must. It has tons of tips and tricks to help you improvise, overcome, and adapt.

Windows Tips

MalekTips for Windows 95/98

Another awesome site for fixing all your "Bill Gates sucks" problems. Yet another fine person has assembled a stellar collection of help files and knowledge in one place where you can get to it quickly and easily.

Software Download Sites

Frank's World O'Windows

Frank's World O'Windows

Frank has put together a beautiful collection of all the drivers the Microsoft forgot. If you're having trouble with some of your hardware and you recently upgraded to either Windows 95 or 98, it's probably a driver problem. And the good news is: Frank's probably got it. His site links to almost every hardware manufacturer you can think of. But usually he'll just e-mail you the driver you need and you don't even have to leave his site. Very nice, very nice.

TUCOWS

TUCOWS

If it's a hot new program for the net you can be sure that you'll find it here first. TUCOWS stands for The Ultimate Collection Of WinSock apps. And it is! This site that I have bookmarked here is fast and close to home for me, but you may want to check out one of their many mirrors and see if there's not a site closer or faster for you.

Filez

Filez

If there is a new program out and you just can't seem to find it anywhere on the net (we won't get into why), this may be the place. Fasten your morales and grab hold of your ethics and happy hunting. Aye, matee.

Stroud's CWS apps

Strouds Consumate winsock apps

Another beautiful site with all the latest and greatest shareware on the net, for the net. This site is a good place to get more reviews of the various programs you may be wanting to check out. Choosing between download sites has (for me anyway) become more a matter of site layout. I like this site and TUCOWS, they are both intutive and easy to navigate, and let's not forget fast.

Windows95 .com

Windows95.com

Fear not, this isn't a horribly slow Microsoft website. It's just a site that has programs for Windows95 and Windows98. What you ask, makes this site so different from the others? Well, it has programs for more that just internet related activities. After all jsut because you're on the internet now doesn't mean you'll be connected 24-7.

Travel Resources

Green Tortoise

green tortoise

There's nothing else like the Green Tortoise. Passengers are happy. You sleep lying down on fitted sheets over mattresses on raised platforms and bunk beds, listening to beautiful music as they doze off. In the morning you've usually arrived somewhere incredible! By day you swim, cook breakfast, explore caves, climb mountains, raft downstream, stand under waterfalls, walk through forests, cook dinner, build campfires, visit towns, meet people, or just plain take it easy.

The Lonely Planet

Lonely Planet

The Lonely Planet makes some of the best travel guides. So if you're into getting around, they come highly reccomended. Maps on us

Maps On Us

Intergo Atlas

Good maps and Info fo the world

Not exactly your trip planning site but more of an atlas on line. If you want your traditional type map of a large area this is the site for you. Once again it's easy to use and free. It is particularly usefull for when you are looking for something outside of the U.S. Most of the other sites don't even attempt to offer help once you leave the country.

Airline Fare Finder

Farefinder

If you ever want to find out what the cheapest air fare is before you start forking over top dollar, you may what to check with FareFinder. It gives you the lowest price for round trip flights from city to city. And of course once you find the lowest fare it will help you book your flight and even choose you seat and peanut preference.

PriceLine

Farefinder

It's the only web site in town where you name the price you want to pay for a plane ticket. Well ok you can only go so low before they tell you to pound salt. But if you need to take a trip why not put in a low bid and see if you can't save yourself some money? There's nothing to lose and it's quick and easy. Well worth the effor, that's for sure.

Stuff Just for Fun

Blah Blah Blah

Rugby Songs

One of the best parts of playing rugby is the drink up afterwards. And no drink up is complete with out rugby songs. So no it's not a company or anyting but I just had to put it in here 'cause I love this site that much.

Kendricks Homepage

Kendrik's Funny Stuff

Bill Kendrick has come up with quite a collection of funny stuff. He's got a lot more to his website than just funny stuff but it is by far and away one of my favorite places to visist on his site.

You can get all the skinny on what's what and how to tell. Plus you can find out about reactions when combined with other medications. All in all it's a good site for hypocondriacs.

A Phrozen Crew Homepage

Super Calvin (for lack of anything better)

If ever you have had a hard time evaluating shareware because some of the features have been disabled, the PC can help. This is a dedicated group of talented people that provide the necessary skills to make software work for you, they way it out to. There are many distribution sites of similar wares but these people do it themselves. So why go elswhere when you can go straight to the source?

The Strange World of TAPU

Super Calvin (for lack of anything better)

Well the obviouse answer to the previous question is: what if your usual source doesn't have what you need? And in a case like that we have the mysterious world af TAPU. I just wish someone would index this site. It's got lots of great links but good luck figuring out wich one is right for you. I would recommend the search engine at the bottom of the page.

News and Current Events

USA Today

USA Today

If I had to pick one paper to read, this would be the one. And wouldn't you know it, lucky me, they have an on-line version. And yes ladies and gentleman it's got it all. If you're looking for a good daily read of what's going on around the world, this iis it.

Reuters

The Associated Press

If you want the latest breaking info, unedited and straight from the source, look no further. It might be a little bit harder to get around if you don't know what exactly your looking for, but if you do you can be sure that you'll get all the facts (at least that are available). And hey you don't have to wait for anyone else to process it.

CNN Interactive

Headline News

This is the CNN interactive web page. It's not quite as raw as reuters but still pretty stinking fresh. So if you don't have time to turn on CNN (but plenty of time to play on the internet), CNN has got what you need.

Magazines

Playboy

Playboy bunny

Playboy Magazine is the bomb. And trust me I'm not talking about the pictures either, there are many magazines with far more revealing pictures. But Playboy has some articles that are just awesome. Yep, that's right, I said I read it for the articles. And anyone else who has taken the time to read an issue knows jsut what I'm talking about. So don't be so quick to judge, you little perverts.

Wired

Wired News Magazine

Well, this is the internet after all. You just have to have some interest in it, right? Well Wired is a pretty decent source of some good net news. They cover such a wide range of topics that most anybody can find something interesting with the pages. Have a look for yourself, it's worth your time.

PC Gamer

PC Gamer

What can I say, I still like to play games. And for the latest press releases I turn to PC Gamer. They cover everything from the games, to the hardware running 'em, and the people making it all. They have solid revues of up and coming games, as well as tips and tricks for some of the harder games out there.

Popular Science

Popular Science

What can I say? So I a science guy. I like to know what's up with the cutting edge of science. One day I hope to be leading the cutting edge of physics. I've always loved the look into the future (and eve the amusing looks into the pasts future) that you can only get with Popular Science.

PC Week

PC Week On-Line

This is a solid on-line magazine that part of the Ziff-Davis family of lots and lots of stuff. It's got all kinds of info that you could never possibly sift through in a week. But what the heck if you've got some time (which you obviously do) have a look, there's lot's of neat stuff.

Companies that I like

Apple

Apple Computers

Thanks to Bill Gates and the incredible programing of the Microsoft team, I think my next computer will be a Mac! For those that know me this must come as an incredible shock. But really, Windows95 and now 98 is Bill Gates best effort to turn the IBM PC into a Macitosh. I figure as long as I'm going to be using a Macintosh type computer I may as well go along with someone who's got experience being a Mac! And I just love some of the slogans they've got.

The Gap

The Gap

Yep, that's right. I like The Gap. What can I say, they make just about the only jeans that fit me. You try having legs with a bit of muscle in 'em and then get into a "normal" pair of jeans, it just ain't happening. Either the waste is three sizes too big or the legs are a couple sizes too small.

Music Television

MTV On-Line

I want my MTV. What else can you say? well if you want it here it is. And this is a pretty big site. It's got everything on it. Just about every show has its own page.

Asics, running shoes

Asics

As we all know from the many comercials out there, there are a lot of shoe companies. But I really dig Asics because they put out a good shoe at a reasonable price. I can't afford a $150 pair of running shoes but I still want quality care for my feet. With Asics I'm sure I get the best of both worlds

Teva's

Teva

And as long as we're on the topic of foot wear, let me say I love my Teva's. Nothing quite compares to a nice pair of sandals. And with Teva's you know that they're rugged and durable cause thy're guranteed for life. What more could you ask for?

Hardrock Cafe

The Hard Rock Cafe

As I was traveling around the world and gathering suveniers of the places I'd been, I thought it would be neat to have something a little less eclectic to represent my journeys. Thus began my shot glass collection. But the Hard Rock has more than just shot glasses... they have the best milk shakes I have ever tasted.
